Under Providence, September 21, 2009 - part 2

Chris and Scott joined me going up into Providence.  Two rivers, the Woonasquatucket and Moshassuck come together right in the middle of Providence.  The tide was high which raised the level of the rivers.  That got us past the shallow spots that have stopped me before.  We got almost up to the first dam on each river before the water got too shallow (and fast) to get any further.

 First you come to some lovely sculpture next to and in(!) the river.


Love this guy walking up stream.  The current makes him sway back and forth as if he were striding up river.



Memorial Blvd is built right out over the river - and we cruised along right under two lanes of traffic!


 
We started with the left branch, up the Mashassuck and under the Providence Place Mall.
